Getting appointments and contacting the surgery is difficult.
Booking system for doctor appointments and hematologist not user friendly.
Having a walk in surgery for urgent appointments is useful but always very busy.
Repeat prescriptions take a long time and often have to be ordered in paper form (as the alternatives are fax & online system which frequently do not work).
I have been very impressed with the weekend walk in service at Pinn Medical Centre. The receptionist was highly courteous and helpful and kept me informed throughout the waiting time of how many patients were ahead and how long it would take for my elderly mother, who was in terrible pain, to see the doctor. And then Dr Woodhouse was so kind and considerate with my mother. Her professionalism complemented by a compassionate and understanding manner restored my frail mother's confidence and alleviated my concerns. The treatment that Dr Woodhouse recommended has started to work and, a few days after the visit, my mother seems to be on the mend.
I am lucky in that I need to visit the Pinn Medical Centre only occasionally, however I have not seen the same doctor twice for many years! It is very difficult to get an appointment with a doctor one has seen previously, although it is usually possible to see someone, even if it is a locum you will never meet again! While most are very good and helpful, continuity of care is dependant on me, the patient, updating the doctor, as information recorded on the computer sometimes seems sparse.
Receptionists usually seem very busy and are occasionally brusque and can appear unfriendly and impatient.
The repeat prescription system takes too long, and while online ordering is a good idea, it fails at the final stage where, having made use of the smooth and easy process of ordering a repeat prescription online, one then has go to the Medical Centre and join an often long queue at the reception desk to pick it up and take it to the pharmacy!
The receptionists have a total lack of initiative and give the impression of not actually wanting to help. It is also extremely difficult to get appointments.
It is so difficult to get a same day appointment. You are told to ring at 8.15am and when you do there are no appointments for that day. You get given an appointment a week later. This is terrible! Especially if your child is ill.
